nyaa. since i'm damn bored, i shall try writing a story. keke.
DISCLAIMER: This is a purely fictional story. Any similiarities or resemblances to real life events are purely coincidental. ;)
Characters:
Alex - An apparent nice and friendly guy, but there seems to be a side to him not known to others.. yet.
Carol - An apparent innocent and naive girl, but is actually more matured in her thinking then she appears.
Janice - Carol's good friend. Seems to be blur most of the time, and actually is. But she is firm about her own likes and dislikes.
Ben - An admirer of Carol's. Is fiercely loyal and faithful, and will always be there whenever his friends need help, but is often unappreciated and left out at times.
Pat - Carol's good friend. Is extremely friendly and approachable. Tries to bond her friends together. Her actions and words are at times easily misunderstood, but she's
reasonable and forgiving enough to resolve the misunderstandings.
Suzie - Carol's good friend. Also friendly and approachable. Tends to be loud and bossy, but usually gets her way with people because she doesn't have ill intentions at
all.
Jay - On good terms with generally everyone and is well respected by his friends as he is several years older in age, and thus more matured and tends to have an objective
outlook on events.
Jacky - An IT whiz. Fond of experimenting with various softwares, exploiting bugs and loopholes in security, which ends up in him doing things that might not always be
legal.
Wake - [Modeled after myself, obviously] A deep and quiet person who tends to keep things to himself as far as possible. Is usually detached from various events as much as
possible, but will be observing them silently at one side.
Extra characters: i'll add them as when i like, but i'll roughly describe them when i add them.
Setting/Premise:
Some shit company. =/ okay fine, a new company named ABC Company which just opened for around six months then. keke.
Story starts off with the first day after the short holiday break in ABC Company, where several talents are poached from various companies and put together in an office.
...
"Wake~~~!!! Help me to do this, I don't know how~~?!"
A shrill voice rang across the office when Wake just stepped through the doors.
"What the..," he muttered. "Help you with what?"
Suzie pranced towards him and dragged him off to her terminal.
"This." she pointed at her screen.
Wake took a brief glance at the screen and promptly resolved her problem within 20 seconds' time.
"Thank you Wake~" Suzie grinned widely.
"Yeah, no prob, no prob.."
Everyone was already in the office, apart from.. Janice, as usual. He briefly scanned around the office. The supervisor is on leave, so everyone was slacking off.
Pat was chitchatting with Jay and Jacky vividly and laughing madly. Jay was having his usual dosage of coffee whereas Jacky was busy typing away on his computer.
Wake sat down at his desk and looked at Ben, who was gaming away.
"Sigh." Wake turned on his terminal and began surfing some forums to kill time.
"Sorry I'm late!" a voice rang out sheepishly.
Janice came in meekly throught the door and saw the supervisor not in and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Not bad, you're only late for 30 minutes this time round," Wake remarked. "Slept early last night right?"
"EHH? How you know?" Janice exclaimed, only realising Wake's sarcasm later and promptly replied, "Eh, shit you."
She went to her seat, which was already occupied by Alex. Reason being, Carol's seat was beside hers.
Wake took a glance at Ben and realised that he did not realise that his character in game was being massacred ("Ownage~!!").
He was too engrossed in glaring holes into Alex's head. Well, the back of his head, for he was also too engrossed enjoying Carol's company.
Wake then thought to himself, "Both of them have sure have gotten close suddenly after the break. Must be .."
[Few days later..]
Supervisor: "Hey, the three of you are selected to go to the States to attend a conference. You'll be going along with representatives of our affiliated companies, so do your best."
Wake, Alex and Ben groaned.
Not long later, they found themselves in the States with the rest of the representatives. In order to facilitate the whole two weeks, the first few days were designated to icebreaker games which Wake was in charge of, along with another lady. The games were a success, and soon everyone was acquainted with one another.
They were assigned in groups, according to their companies. and depending on situations, they have to pair up with another group to accomplish certain objectives. this led to Wake's group getting more and more acquainted with a particular group from XYZ Company.
[Author notes: Two ladies and a man was in group XYZ, whom i shall name X, Y and Z respectively, whom Z is a guy, as they're minor characters.]
Soon, Alex got closer with X, who was the prettier one out of the two girls in XYZ. and Ben got closer with Y. Wake, who was being his usual self, stayed quiet most of the time, so he was the last one among the three of them to get to know XYZ better.
Wake looked at this transpiring in front of him and then recalled the first night when Alex was hanging around in his room.
[First night in the States]
Wake had brought his laptop along, and was chatting with Carol and surfing his forums as usual.
Alex came in and took a glance at Wake's screen and commented.
"Eh Wake, you know or not arh?"
"Regarding what?"
"About Carol and me."
"Er. Not really?"
"Haha. You're abit slow this time. We just got together not long ago."
"Woah. That's fast."
"Haha.. yeah. Just thought to tell you."
"Erm. Okay."
Wake resumed doing whatever he's doing.
[End of flashback]
It's only been about a week since then, and what Wake is seeing in front of him did not please him.
Alex was being quite intimate with X. They'll hook their arms together whenever they walk together. But Wake knew that X was just playing around and had no intentions of being that close with Alex after the trip. But what Alex was thinking, Wake did not know and did not dare to guess. On the other hand, Ben was also quite close to Y but was less touchy with one another. Recalling what Alex said on the first night, Wake thought that it might do Ben good to have a new target, but little did he know that Ben was just obliged to be close with Y, as he just can't make himself reject a lady.
Soon after, the three of them came back from the States and submitted their reports to their superior. He then gave three of them a break from work for a job well done.
[Few days into the break]
MSN:
Alex: Hey, you free?
Wake: Hm..? Yeah, i suppose.
Alex: Remember what i said to you the night we arrived in the States?
Wake: About Carol and you? Yeah, of course.
Alex: I think I'm having second thoughts.
Wake: ...
Wake: About telling me? Or about the relationship?
Alex: The relationship.
Wake: What, you don't like her anymore?
Alex: No la.. but I'm not sure.
Wake: About?
Alex: My feelings lo.
Wake: Give yourself some time ba.
Wake: If your really think that you don't like her anymore, then tell her ba. Don't drag it on and make it worse.
Alex: Ya..
Wake: ..
Wake: Something else?
Alex: .. Yeah. I kind of like X ley.
Wake: -.-
Alex: Why -.-?
Wake: Nah, nothing. Just kind of surprised.
Alex: Orhh.
Wake: You only got to know her for two weeks wor.
Alex: But then hor..
Wake: .. No need to explain to me la. Go think it through then say.
Alex: Orh, okay.. Night.
Wake: Nights.
[End of conversation]
Soon, Wake found out the news that the both of them were about to break up, but he intervened and tried to advise the both of them separately. Not long after, the two of them patched back together, and were closer than before.
Wake thought to himself then, "Glad everything's fine now.."
Or so he thought.
